We're thrilled to announce that Jamie Bloem, the South African Rugby League International, is taking charge at Talbot Park with immediate effect.
Jamie brings a wealth of experience, having captained South Africa at the 2000 Rugby League World Cup and played over 130 games in the Super League. His talents span both rugby codes, having played for Racing 92 in France and Cheshire in the County Championships at Twickenham. Over the past few years, Jamie has been coaching at all levels in the Yorkshire Rugby Leagues, reaching Regional North 2 with Huddersfield YMCA. Recently, he's been working with the high-flying Heath in Regional 1 North East and supporting the BUCS program at Leeds Beckett University. In addition to his impressive playing career, Jamie holds Level 3 RL and RU coaching qualifications and is a Level 9 RU referee and RL Grade 1 referee.
A few words from Jamie:
“I am really honoured and excited to be joining Acklam RUFC for the forthcoming season. The facilities are second to none, absolutely amazing clubhouse and training areas. The infrastructure is there, now the hard work starts to get a competitive team on the park. I am coming into this eyes wide open and that’s the way I like it. Each and every player starts with a clean slate and I hope we get all current, old and new faces down to preseason. The sessions will be fun, tough and will test players skill and endurance. We will laugh and cry together, and build a bond in the club that will be the foundation for years to come. The club has a vision, and I share that vision of a successful Acklam RUFC where family is always first. I cannot wait to get on the park and start training. I hope to see you all soon. Jamie & family.”
